The Bigha system measures larger plots common in the flat Terai region. A Bigha equals 72,900 square feet or 6,772.63 square meters. One Bigha divides into 20 Kattha, and each Kattha into 20 Dhur. A single Bigha equals 13.31 Ropani. Districts like Morang, Sunsari, Dhanusha, Bara, Parsa, Rupandehi, and Banke use this system.
Modern records increasingly add square meter values alongside traditional units. But the traditional systems remain the standard for most official land documents in Nepal.
